He was recognized and won awards for new technology in road construction in Alberta. His drive for continued education was second only to family movie nights with a bag of chips and a cold can of Coke.
Joe was a humorous, and light-hearted individual with a sarcastic sense of humor. Joe enjoyed traveling, laughing, playing games with his family, and showed love by gift-giving. He was a self proclaimed and proud “geek” with computers, love of historical documentaries, and sci-fi. He had a passion for the latest technology and was always eager to explore new innovations. Joe had a quirky passion for collecting stationary, movies, and memorabilia.
As per Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Newfoundland at a later date.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kidd, Dr. Ferland, and the nursing staff of the Cardiac ICU for their care and compassion during Joe’s stay. Your efforts were deeply appreciated, and we know you share in our sorrow.
In keeping with Joe’s quest for continuing education, donations to his children’s academic fund would be gratefully appreciated. EMT debbiethoms@gmail.com or contact Dale Coombs (dalecoombs@gmail.com).
