Obituary
Joseph Allison Nickerson (known to most as Allison) January 25, 1940- February 24, 2025, age 85 of Bayside Home, Barrington formerly of Clam Point, Cape Sable Island.
We are very sad to announce the passing of our beloved father. Dad passed away peacefully at Bayside Home surrounded by loved ones.
Dad was a “jack of all trades”. He wore many hats during his working years. Labourer at various plants in the area, fish processing out of his own building, employee of Wilson’s in the building supplies department and handyman for his family and many others. Dad always took great pride in any task or job he completed. He was a Mr. Fixit and there wasn’t much that he couldn’t figure out. He also took care of our mother for many years, right up until her passing for which we will be forever grateful for.
Some of dad’s favorite pastimes over the years included camping, mackerel fishing, growing the best tomatoes and cucumbers in his greenhouse, tinkering in his workshop and spending time with his family. Dad was a kind and gentle soul and always had a twinkle in his eyes and a beautiful smile on his face. Especially when there were children around him. He loved each and everyone of us beyond measure and will be greatly missed.
“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone the light remains” -unknown
He leaves behind his beloved daughters Kathy (Wade) Heidi (Ian). Grandchildren Nicholas, Mandy, Amber, Bobby, Ryan, Nolan. Great grandchildren Sophia, Clementine, McKenna, Daxon. Step- great grandchildren Ally and Scarlett. Sister Mary.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Georgie. Parents Allison and Genevieve. Sister in infancy Elizabeth. Brother William (Billy).
Our family would like to extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bayside Home. Your loving care and compassion for our dad during his time there will never be forgotten.
Cremation will take place under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium in Barrington. As per dad’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. We will be having an open house celebration of life on Sunday March 9th from 1 to 3 pm at the Island and Barrington Passage Fire Department in Centreville. We invite you to drop in during this time to share a memory or story of how you knew our Dad or to extend condolences. There will be a family graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations a memorial donation may be made to Bayside Home or the IWK. Online condolences may be sent to huskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net
