À la mémoire de
Jolanta Bubienczyk
19 novembre 1934 –
4 avril 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jolanta Bubienczyk, who left this world on April 4. Her passing marks the end of an era for our family, but we take comfort in the lasting legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith she leaves behind.
Lovingly known by many as “Babcia Jola,” “Ciocia Jola,” and “Pani Jola” she was the heart and soul of our family. She was a devoted mother to Jaroslaw (Krystyna), Kalina (Jerzy), and Wojciech (Malgorzata), and the proud grandmother to Daria, Anne, Alicia, and Michael, and sister to Henryk. She is predeceased by her husband Bronislaw, and siblings Barbara, Stefan, Zygmunt, and Kazimierz. Her grandchildren were the joy and meaning of her life, and her love for them knew no bounds. They will forever carry her spirit and warmth in their hearts.
Widowed early in life, she raised her three children on her own, selflessly providing them with a loving home and the best life they could ask for. While raising her three kids, she was also the devoted caregiver to her beloved mother, Walentyna, who was paralyzed later in life and remained under Jola’s care until her last day. Jola left her life in Poland to come to Canada in 1992 for the wedding of her youngest son, and quickly built a community of friends and loved ones around her in the new place she was so proud to call home. We are grateful for Jola’s longtime friends she made in her new home in Toronto in the Polish Roncesvalles community. Every Sunday, she would independently and eagerly make the long commute on public transit to St. Kazimierz Church to visit her dear friends and stroll what she called “my street.” A retired teacher/principal, a woman of boundless energy, Jola had a vibrant personality that filled every room she entered. Her infectious laughter, quick wit, and sharp mind made her a beloved friend to many. She was a voracious reader, always seeking knowledge and wisdom, and had an incredible memory that never failed to impress. At 90 she would memorize poems and highlight news articles for her family members to read. Her love for life was matched only by her love for nature, particularly flowers. Jola had a special gift for nurturing orchids, and her room was always filled with their delicate beauty. Her love for the natural world extended to the many long walks she took each evening, where she greeted neighbours with a smile and a kind word. Jola was known in her community for her vibrant spirit, and her long walks were a symbol of her strength and vitality. It is during her long walks that she met some of her most beloved friends and truly cherished every moment spent with them. She was a great cook with a passion for trying new recipes and sharing the traditional Polish recipes with her grandchildren.
A woman of deep faith, Jola was a beacon of strength and comfort to her family and friends, always ready to offer a helping hand or a word of encouragement. She would spend many hours in prayer with her rosary in her hand, and offered a smile and a head nod when her prayer was unintentionally interrupted.
Though her presence will be profoundly missed, we take solace in knowing that her light will continue to shine through the lives she touched. It is clear to us now more than ever how much we loved her and how her ways of going through life will be a compass for us as we navigate life without her on earth. We are grateful for the time we had with her and the memories that will forever be a part of our hearts.
Rest in peace, Jolu. You have been a protector and a bright light in our lives, and we will carry your love, wisdom, courage, and strength with us always.
Wieczne odpoczywanie racz Jej dać Panie…
