Memoriam Words for our Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather
With saddened hearts, we share that John Lemieux peacefully passed away in January 2025. John was born in 1942 to Stella and Luke Lemieux. He grew up in Surrey, BC where he eventually met the love of his life and future wife, Carol. They settled in Langley, BC to raise their two daughters, Amy and Gina.
John is known for his quiet, calm manner, friendly nature and generous, helping hand. He loved a good laugh and made others laugh with his quick wit, mischievous smile and funny faces. He loved watching hockey, baseball and football, listening to classic rock and country music, and was a life-long classic car and truck enthusiast, especially when it came to his special ’63 Chevy truck. He enjoyed being outdoors in nature in his backyard or on the beach, often experiencing beautiful connections with the wildlife.
Most of John’s working life was as a Hostess-Frito Lay sales representative, where he was known for his efficient ways, was awarded numerous sales awards and endeared himself to his many customers and co-workers with his kind and friendly manner.
Despite his life-long physical struggles, John led his life with positivity and gratitude among many more values his family dearly appreciates him for. Even with his limited capacity in recent years, he was able to connect with us through that twinkle in his eye and mischievous smile. This was how his fellow elders and care team got to know him, a testament to his true self shining through to the very end.
A loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed. We find peace in our hearts knowing he is finally at peace. John is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Amy (David) and Gina (Brian); grandchildren, Chris and Cassidy. He also leaves behind his sister, nieces, brothers-in-law and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers and if you feel inspired to do so, please consider making a donation to the Kinsmen Lodge in Surrey, BC in memory of John and in honour of all the caring elders and staff that treated him lovingly as family (kinsmenlodge.ca/donate). We are forever grateful for their caring hearts.
I Am With You Still
I give you this one thought to keep –
I am with you still – do not weep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush –
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone –
I am with you still – in each new dawn.
