John Joseph Quigley
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of John Joseph Quigley, of Burlington, at the age of 75, on March 19, 2025. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, as was his wish. This would not have been possible without the immense support of his brother-in-law, Dr. Jim West, to whom we are all extremely grateful for all his caring, advice, time, and efforts.
John leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Sheila (West), and their cherished children, Shane (Arlene) and Trisha, all of Burlington. He was a deeply loved and loving Papa to John T. (Sarah), Sarah Lenko (Matt), Max, and Zac, and was predeceased by his granddaughter, Grace. Last month, John was extremely happy and excited to become a Great Papa to Lily, a role he had been so looking forward to. He also held a special place in his heart for Peter and Kimberly Stuiver, whom he considered family.
John was a dear brother to Mary McCaul (Parksville, BC), Joanne Leroux (Grimsby, ON), Theresa Dell (Bob) (Grimsby, ON), and Ron (Hamilton, ON). He was also a beloved brother-in-law to Edith Gate (St. George, ON) and Dr. Jim West (Sue) (Qualicum Beach, BC). Also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Born in Perth, Ontario, John was raised in Hamilton before eventually settling in Burlington, where he raised his family. With a keen business sense, he founded Baumer Canada in 1997, leading the company with dedication and vision. Working alongside his family, he helped build the business through their shared commitment and hard work, growing Baumer Canada into a thriving company that earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike. John successfully ran the business until his well-earned retirement in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, teamwork, and success.
A passionate and talented cook, John took great pleasure in preparing meals and instilling his love of food in
others. Gathering around the table with family was one of his greatest joys, and his legacy of “mostly” good food and warm company will live on in those who shared in his meals.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will not be a formal service. His family will celebrate his life privately, honoring the memories he leaves behind.
Life will never be quite the same without him. His love, laughter, and wisdom will stay with us always, but our
hearts ache in his absence.
