Beloved father to Brad (Elisabeth), Don (Elaine, deceased), and Shelley (Sean Pesce). Devoted grandfather to Elizabeth (Dave), Alex (Michelle), Jordan (Cassidy), Seth, Stephanie (Kurtis), Matthew and Brayden. Great-grandfather to 10 cherished great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his brother Al (Judy) and predeceased by his sister Leah (John Portman). Jack will also be dearly missed by extended family and friends.
Jack attended Delta Collegiate, graduated from McMaster University, and then completed his Masters of Education at the University of Toronto. Jack devoted 36 years to education as both a teacher and an educational researcher for the Hamilton Board of Education. He later served on the Wentworth County Board of Education as both a Trustee and as Chair. For his 45 years of service to the community in the Hamilton East Kiwanis club, Jack received the Legion of Honour award. He served as President and Lieutenant Governor during his years with the club and was also awarded a Lifetime of Outstanding Service award. An active member of Cheyne Presbyterian Church, Jack served as an Elder, a member of the Missions Committee, and as a Session member for many years.
A true gentleman, Jack will be remembered for his deep faith, compassion, wise counsel, and service to others. He never missed an opportunity to encourage and lift others up.
