79 years of Lower Sackville. Born August 20, 1945 in Aberdeen Scotland. Passed away in the V.G. Hospital, Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 13, 2025.
He was predeceased by his parents John Geroge Watt and Jessie Ann (Stott) Black and a sister Sylvie (Fred) Duncan.
John is survived by his wife of 30 years Wendy Lorraine (Wotton) Black; sister Ann (Ian) Murray; niece Susan (John) Hepburn their children Nathan and Lauren; nephew Colin (Fiona) Duncan; their daughter Iona all of Aberdeen, Scotland.
John was a loving husband and cared deeply for all his family on both sided of the Pond (Atlantic). John was also a good and caring friend; he loved all creatures especially the cats Patches and Eira ‘Furball” and his backyard Ravens. He greatly enjoyed visiting “Ma and Pa” his in-laws Bud and Pearl Wotton in the Annapolis Valley.
John loved Scotch, Rum and a good Steak.
John served 15 years in the British Military. First in the Scot’s Guards, Queen’s Division. During this time, he had the honour and pleasure to meet Queen Elizabeth II on three occasions. Later he served as a Transport Driver. Following his discharge, he relocated to the U.S.A. where he began a career as a Truck Driver. When he moved to Halifax he worked for a time as a Commissioner at various locations, later returning to his previous and favourite occupation as a Truck Driver until his retirement.
There will be no service, an interment will be held at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia, Lung Association of Nova Scotia or Hope for Wildlife.
