Fraser- Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health Palliative Care, John Luke Fraser passed away on February 20, 2025 at the age of 84.John lived a simple and beautiful life and is survived by relatives throughout Canada and the United States. Most especially, John was the beloved and treasured husband of Gloria for 61 years. John was an incredible and steadfast father to Sandra Fraser and Kyle ( Sophie ) Fraser. John’s most heartfelt calling was being the outstanding grandfather and best friend to Simon Doan, and the most special Pop to Wesley Fraser and Hugo Fraser. John was born to humble beginnings, as one of twelve children of Odile and William Fraser. Their life began in Quebec and the family eventually settled in Southwestern Ontario. John was a long-time resident of Lambton County, spending most of his life in St. Clair Township, along the river that he loved. Whether it was to watch the boats, rake the beach or do some water skiing, being across the road from his home at the river is usually where you could find John. John was a man of deep faith and religious beliefs. Throughout his life, he was devoted to the Catholic Church and was a pillar of his congregation. John was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, aspiring to the rank of 4th degree. As we watched him move through his final days, we believe that the peace that he was grounded in was because of a life-long spiritual practice that was very personal to John. John had a great love of music. He was self taught on many instruments, and could play the drums, banjo, fiddle and ukulele. In his retirement, he was part of many groups that filled their time “doing gigs” at local retirement homes and long-term care facilities. Playing music and seeing the smiles from the audience, and the camaraderie from his band mates, brought John joy for many years. John was an excellent electrician and proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 530. John valued his union association and was active in his local membership. While he worked most of his career in construction, he was always available to family and friends if they needed anything. John’s generous demeanour was well known by his acts of service throughout the community. John’s family would like to extend sincere gratitude to his medical team who helped him and his family throughout his cancer diagnosis. Dr. Kim, Home Instead, Bayshore and VON were integral members of Team John. Without you all, we could not have honoured John’s wishes to remain at home for the time that was able to. Once John’s care needs increased, he was able to receive the support that he needed from the Palliative Care team at Bluewater Health. The care and compassion that he received from the medical staff was filled with love and laughter. Special thanks to nurse McCauley who was his ice cream sundae fairy and always brought a smile to his face. The most honorable mention to nurse Cheryl who provided care to John in his final days and support to our family that was above and beyond. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Thursday February 27, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with words of remembrance will being shared at 6:30pm.
