John Douglas Zimmerman
J. Douglas Zimmerman of Cambridge and formerly of New Dundee Ontario passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday March 4, 2025, at 83 years of age.
Cherished husband of 58 years to Ruth (nee Keffer), Beloved father to Tony (Cyndi) and Mark (Elora) and much loved Papa to Grace and Eddie. Dear brother to Ruth Dittmer (the late Lee). Sadly missed by his mother-in-law Nesta Keffer (the late Walter Keffer), sister-in-law Joan Good (the late Elroy) and brother-in-law Doug Keffer (Roseann) as well as, nieces and nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents, Oliver and Hilda Zimmerman (nee Anderson).
Doug grew up in New Dundee with his parents who were chicken and egg farmers. A few years later after Doug and Ruth were married, Doug started a local heating and A/C company which he ran from 1969 until his retirement in 2008. He also loved working on classic cars, you would often see him under the hood or cruising around town in one of them drinking a Coke. A beloved hobby and passion Doug had for many years was collecting Coca Cola memorabilia. Many friends and family were treated to detailed tours and stories about the many items in his collection.
Family and Friends are invited to join in celebrating Doug’s life at Calvery Ayr, 173 Northumberland St. Ayr, on Thursday March 20, 2025. Gathering from 10:30am -12 followed by a service in the church at 12 noon. Reception to follow. A private family burial will take place at the New Dundee Union Cemetery. Donations to Calvary Ayr or to Share World Canada would be appreciated in memory of Doug.
