Johnny Gibson, age 89, passed away suddenly but peacefully February 9, 2025 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Ontario. He was born October 11, 1935 in Paisley, Scotland. Son of John and Elizabeth Gibson. He married Annette Green on March 9th, 1957 in Paisley, Scotland. Johnny worked as an electrician with Kilpatricks in Paisley, Scotland before he was called up in service for 2 yrs with the Royal Signals Regiment in the British Military. Serving in Catterick Camp, North Yorkshire, England; he completed his time as a L/cpl radio relay instructor. He immigrated to Canada with his wife Annette and daughter Susan in 1959. Johnny retired early as an Orderly at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 60 due to staff downsizing. This enabled an orderly with less seniority and a young family to remain employed. He was very proud of his career at the hospital. Johnny was also a long standing member of the Hespeler Legion. He had a very high respect for members of the military. On September 8, 2012 John was presented the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from The Honourable Gary Goodyear, P.C., M.P.
Johnny will be greatly missed by his wife, Annette and his loving children, Susan (Jim Davidson), Hazel (Raymond Green) and Lance (Teresa Richardson). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by his brother David in Scotland and his late sisters Thelma and Anne. Johnny will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends
Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered at a later date in a very special place to him and his wife Annette.
