Peacefully at Strathroy Hospital on Thursday May 8, 2025, Johanna (Annie) Josephine
Van Lieshout of Strathroy passed away in her 92nd year, with family by her side. Predeceased by her husband John in 2004. Loving mother of Henry (Nancy), Frances (Vince), Gary (Deb) and Tom (Pauline). Cherished by her 14 grandchildren Amie, Jonathan, Derrick, Stephanie, Natasha (Paul), Jason, Larissa, Travis, La Toya (Logan), Amber, Peyten. and Karly. Loved by her 12 great-grandchildren Rozlynn, Evelin, Lillian, Deacon, Joshua, Colby, Bentley, Westin, Annelise, Nova, Quintin, and Ella; and her great-great granddaughter Hayleigh. Survived by her siblings Jack Van Gaal (Mary), Gerry Van Gaal, Grad Van Gaal (Annie), Mary Van Geel, Irma Sleegers (Bill).
Alse survived of brother-in-law Guy Ver Voort and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Predeceased by her parents Herman and Martina Van Gaal and by her stepfather Henry Megens. Also predeceased by her sisters Wilma Ver Voort, Jean Vanden Hengel, her brother John Van Gaal, sisters-in-law Liz and Betty Van Gaal, brothers-in-law George Van Geel and Dave Vanden Hengel.
Annie was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1953 and has been a lifelong resident of Strathroy. She was a seamstress at Strathmere Lodge for 28 years. She kept busy helping others whenever she could and enjoyed sewing and knitting throughout her life. Annie was proud of her family, her community, and a proud Canadian.
Relatives and friends will be welcomed to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Monday, May 12th, 2025, from 1:00p.m.-3:00p.m. and 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Strathroy. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Strathroy Hospice or the Strathroy VON Day Program.
