In Loving Memory of Johana (Ilona) Sarah: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Johana (Ilona) Sarah on April 7, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born in Makassar, Indonesia, on May 30, 1936, Ilona was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. She studied English Literature at the University of Indonesia, where she met her husband, Jusuf Sugiaman. Their marriage was blessed with three children—Catherine, Steve, and Frankie—whom they raised with unwavering love and guidance.
Ilona will be fondly remembered for being an avid reader and her deep love of literature and languages. She is lovingly survived by her 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Ilona now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, siblings, and dear friends.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services: Visitation: Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 5–9pm (UKI Prayer Service at 7-8pm) at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham.
Requiem Mass: Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11am at St Timothy Parish, North York. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
