Obituary of Joe Koughan
On Sunday, February 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, the death occurred peacefully of Joseph “Joe” Cecil Koughan of Stratford, formerly of Vernon River, age 87 years. Beloved husband of Elaine Koughan (McCabe). Loving father of Gemma Koughan and Denise Proud (Randy). Loving Grampie “Joe” to William, Bethany and Colin. Joe will be missed by his devoted sister Catherine Koughan and sister-in-law Phyllis Koughan. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ella (Duffy) Koughan, siblings Canisius, Mary Holland (Danny), Anita Koughan, Henry (Annette), Elmer, Lorne (Mary), Earl (Phyllis).
Dad was a man of great faith and he demonstrated this by the way he lived his life. He loved to watch his grandkids play their sports and he was dedicated to everything they did.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 4-7pm. The St. Joachim’s Parish Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at the funeral home at 3:15pm Wednesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday at St. Joachim’s Church, Vernon River. Interment will take place later in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made online to KidSport or St. Joachim’s Cemetery Fund.
Joe’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all who came to visit while he was in Palliative Care. We are deeply grateful for the excellent care and compassion he received by the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Palliative Care. We are very also appreciative of the support Joe received from the Renal Clinic of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
