SILVA, João –
Surrounded by the love of his family, João Silva passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength.
Born to João Silva and Aurelia Da Costa, João was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Olga Silva, and their children Sonia (Carlos), Sandra (Jeff), and Larry (Ashley). João was a proud and adoring grandfather to Ethan, Breianna, Ayden, Sylas, Livia, Sienna, Emilia, and Grace.
João was the heart and soul of his family—the steady force who held everyone together. As a true patriarch, he led not with grand words, but with great strength, deep love, and a steadfast belief in the power of family. He taught his children to stay united, to lift each other up, and to always show up for one another.
His greatest joy was having his loved ones gathered sharing meals, laughter, and time together. To him, that togetherness and love was the true meaning of home.
João and Olga shared a love that was truly an inspiration—one built on loyalty, respect, and unwavering support. Through every season of life, and whatever challenges came their way, they faced them together with love and devotion. The bond they shared is one that so many aspire to, a beautiful example of partnership and enduring commitment.
His legacy lives on in the sound of Benfica soccer games playing in the background, in the warmth of every hug, in meals shared, and in the laughter that fills a crowded table. He showed us what it means to belong and to love without limits—and those lessons will live on through us all.
João found joy in his retirement traveling with Olga and spending precious time making memories with his loved ones—memories that will be cherished forever.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Corbett Funeral Home (95 Dundas St N, Cambridge, ON N1R 5N6).
