Obituary of Joanne Kelly
Kelly: Joanne (née Taylor) –
A lifelong resident of Chatham, Joanne Kelly passed away at Riverview Gardens with family at her side on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the age of 84.
Born in Chatham, Joanne was the daughter of the late Douglas and Irene (Reinville) Taylor.
Beloved wife of 57 years to Jim Kelly. Loving mother to the late Tim Kelly, Jane Kelly Blondie (Shane), and Scott Kelly.
Proud Grandma to Jesse, Jaylynn, Karson, Julia and Bronwyn.
Great-Grandma to Zepplyn.
Dear sister to Judy Portis (late Bernie) and Peter Virtue (Kim).
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Joanne lived her life with grace and love. The love she had for her family and friends was pure and unconditional. Joanne found joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She delighted in seeing smiles on kids’ faces, always greeting every baby she met with a warmth that made them feel special. Her character was one of goodness; she was a good person to her core, and she had the remarkable ability to always find the good in others. Joanne was sweet, gentle, and kind to everyone she met. Her gentle hands worked tirelessly to bring comfort to those she loved, whether holding you tightly, stroking your arm, giving a warm hug, or lifting you in prayer. Like her hands, her heart was tender and full of love. She found joy in spending time at the trailer, leading and participating in activities at church, and sharing her good spirit with others. There is peace in knowing that Joanne is now with Jesus, reunited with her son and parents in heaven, where she is forever in their presence.
A Celebration of Joanne’s Life will be held in a few months time.
Donations made in memory of Joanne to the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent or Kenesserie Camp Children’s Registration Assistance Fund, would be appreciated by the family.
