Joann McLearn Obituary
Joann Cecile McLearn (Hillis)
April 17, 1953 – February 27th, 2025
Joann passed away peacefully at home in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, on February 27th, 2025, at the age of 71.
Joann was an amazing person who not only touched the lives of her family but everyone who knew her. She was the third of six children born to Harry and Victorina Hillis in Macklin, Saskatchewan. Joann and her siblings grew up on their family farm where they raised cattle as well as farmed grain. Even from a young age Joann had a huge heart and a wild spirit that fueled many sibling adventures. Throughout her life Joann found joy and purpose in helping people and spent many years working and caring for elderly clients as well as clients unable to care for themselves. She was able to work as an aid in schools, as well as pass on her knowledge as a First Aid instructor.
When Joann was in her 20’s she met the love of her life, Garth McLearn and they were married on June 25th, 1983. It was love at first sight and over their 41 year marriage, they built so many beautiful memories together. Joann was not only an amazing sister to her siblings Glen, Sharon, Cindy, Rebecca, and Roxanne but the most incredible Aunty and Great-Aunt to so many nieces and nephews. One of her biggest joys in life came from the dogs she had and each one held a special place in her heart.
Joann is survived by her husband Garth, her siblings: Glen (Rhea), Sharon, Cindy (Kim), Rebecca (John), Roxanne (Mike), brothers-in-law: Garnet, Jack, Ray, sister-in-law, Irene; as well her beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Victorina, in-laws: Norma and William, brothers-in-law: Donald, Perry, Brock, Kendall, Allan, sisters-in-law: Helena, Margret, Wilma.
Celebration of Joann’s life will be held on Friday, March 7th, 2025, at the Garden Chapel – 1332 100th St North Battleford, SK at 1:00 p.m. Saskatchewan time. There will be lunch to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Joann’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, and to the Huntington’s Society.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium – Tim Scaife Funeral Director.
