Joan Ruth Cable Obituary
Joan Ruth Cable (nee Patterson)
It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Joan Ruth Cable at the age of 90 on March 18th at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Joan was born January 9, 1935 in Ottawa to Lillian and Thomas Patterson. She moved to Kingston to follow her dream of becoming a nurse and it was there she met her future husband, John. Her training as a Registered Nurse carried over to her care of John in his later years. Joan’s fondest memories were of their years at the cottage, in Florida and spending time with her family.
Predeceased by John (2013), she will be lovingly remembered by her children Doug (Jackie) Cable, Ruth (Doug) Patrick and Diane (Jeff) Taggart. Joan was a cherished grandmother to Stuart (Stacey), Sandra (Mike), Jamie (Ashleigh), Jeff, Jason (Robyn), Lindsay (Max), Kyle (Gillian), Josh (Rebecca), Emma and Maggie. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Those who wish to make a donation in memory of Joan, can do so to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF.ca)
The family welcomes guests to join them for a visitation on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and a service on Sunday, March 23 at 11:00 am. Both take place at the James Reid Funeral Home Chapel, 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston, Ontario with a luncheon to follow Sunday’s service in the reception centre.
