Obituary of Jim Gerrior
James (Jim) Leroy Gerrior, 82 of Westville passed away peacefully, at Aberdeen hospital on January 31, 2025,surrounded by his family, both in person and virtually.
Jim was a kind man who enjoyed being surrounded by family and took great pride in them and loved to take photos for memories at their frequent gatherings. He was a lifetime committed member of the New Glasgow Legion branch 34. Some of his many hobbies included handiwork, playing cards, darts, and a variety of outdoor activities like camping, and four wheeling.
Jim was employed most of his working career as a welder, supervisor and retired as a superintendent at Trenton Works.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jeff and Helen Gerrior,brothers Charlie and Carter, and sisters Brenda and Lynda.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years Marcia and their children Kevin (Tracy), Patti (Tom) and Brenda (George).
‘Papa’ will be greatly missed by his grandchildren David (Shay),Elaine (Jimmy), Robert (Nicole), Brett, Cory, Randi, Jessie and last but not least his “boy” Brady.
‘Pa’ is also leaving behind his great grandchildren, Colin, Abby, Emmett, Thomas, Frederick, Harley, Alayna, August, Oliver, Luka, and Layla.
He also leaves behind his siblings Clarence (Lois), Jeffery, Ruth Frazee and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the paramedics, Westville Fire Department, Aberdeen Hospital ER and ICU staff for their compassionate care of Jim.
In Jim’s memory, donations can be made to Halifax NS Down Syndrome Society.
