It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of James Maurice Kelly surrounded by family on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 after a short illness with pulmonary fibrosis. Dedicated and devoted husband to Liliane (née Beaulne), his loving wife of 43 years and adored father, supporter and mentor of Jennifer Kelly (Patrick Bélanger), Melissa Kelly-Lavoie (Marc-André) and Stephanie Kelly-Pichette (Kyle), as well as special Pépé to his granddaughters, Adele, Vaia and Annie.
Dad was a man whose love for his family knew no bounds. He was the best role model, always leading with generosity, selflessness, patience and a deep faith in God. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured the bonds and moments that tied them together. We shared so many special family trips, including crossing Canada and the USA, spending New Year’s Eve together in Florida for the past 4 years, attending dance competitions, and traveling to Ireland and Italy. These memories will remain in our hearts forever.
Dad was the pillar of his family, known for his hardworking nature and love for traditions and family unity. We fondly remember and cherished Sunday dinners, afternoons by the pool and evenings spent playing pool. These meaningful moments were a reflection of the love he had for his family.
An avid lover of Florida in the winter months, the sun, the beach, golf and cycling, Dad found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He also devoted alot of his time to volunteering, always striving to make a positive impact in his community and his church.
Jim was the beloved brother of Jacqueline Bergeron-Gauthier, Pauline Lauzon, Philippe Kelly (Annette), and Diane Laurin (Réal). He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Colette Kelly, Florence Kelly and Lucien Leduc. He is survived by his dear mother-in-law, Pauline Beaulne, and his sisters-in-law, Maureen Beaulne (Ron), Christine Vallée (Daniel), as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Rita Kelly (née Aumont), his father-in-law, Léo Beaulne, his brothers and sisters Clarence Kelly, Eileen Scripnick, Marielle Hannigan, Donald Kelly, Yvon Kelly, Albert Kelly, Denise Leduc, and Gil Kelly, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lise Kelly, Nick Scripnick, Bill Hannigan, Hygin Bergeron, Roger Gauthier, Armand Lauzon and Diane Kelly.
Dad will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Lesley Griffiths and Dr. Nadira Hibbert, along with the entire ICU team at the Timmins and District Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion during our father’s final days.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Parish. Interment will follow at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Maison funéraire LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre.
