Obituary for Jerry Peter Palipowski
February 23, 1959 – February 18, 2025
It is with tremendous sadness, that we announce the passing of Jerry Palipowski, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He slipped away peacefully in the early hours of February 18, 2025, after a brief, but brave battle with cancer.
Jerry was the youngest of 3 children born to Stanislav and Jean Palipowski (both deceased) in Kenora, Ontario. He spent his childhood there with sisters Christina (deceased) and Judy Palipowski. There had been many fond childhood memories of fishing on the Lake of the Woods. Upon graduation from high school, Jerry attended the University of Tennessee for Engineering and hockey. Hockey was one of his greatest passions along with football, golf and cooking. Jerry started a lifelong career in telecommunications in Winnipeg but later moved to Vancouver, BC in 2004 for a position at AT&T Canada. Here he met his soul mate, Eileen Au.
Jerry and Eileen shared a love of world travel and exotic cuisines and became an inseparable pair. “Eat, Drink and Be Jerry” was his infectious motto. Jerry also became great friends with Eileen’s “Irish twin”, Glen, “brother by another mother”. Jerry was likewise loved and respected by other members of Eileen’s extended family as well as her close friends. He will be sorely missed.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the medical team and staff, specifically Dr. Charlotte Dandurand and Dr. Jamie MacDonald of the Spine Unit and Dr. Roy Ma with the BC Cancer Agency for their kind and compassionate care.
Memorial Donations
In lieu of flowers and in Jerry’s memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society towards research in pancreatic cancer.
