Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jennifer Botelho on May 16, 2025 at Milton District Hospital at the age of 52. She left this world surrounded by the love and care of her family and friends.
Jennifer is preceded in joining the Lord by her grandparents Maria Luiza and Joao Raposo Botelho, Beatriz Ines and Antonio Manuel Ledo, and her Uncle Tony Ledo.
Leaving to mourn with tremendous heartache and a multitude of memories is her much cherished daughter, Kaiden (Father, Jamie), along with her parents John and Mary Lou, her siblings Jason (Judy) and Cory (Vanessa), her father in law and mother in law Harry and Lynette Rai, her nephew Jacob, her niece Jasmine, devoted aunts, uncles and cousins, along with a huge circle of friends.
Jennifer spent her career as a social worker with the Region of Peel until her illness forced her into early retirement. Throughout her career and daily life Jennifer always led with kindness, care and compassion. She expressed her love through acts of generosity and kindness for those around her. Jennifer truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive.
Jennifer was always happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest with the deepest desire to create memories with those she loved, especially her daughter Kaiden whom she adored with every fibre of her being. Jennifer refused to allow scleroderma to define her, but rather she chose to embrace life and to grasp every opportunity to travel, meet up with friends, to dance and enjoy the world around her. If you were blessed enough to be in her circle you felt her radiance and contagious zest for life. She knew the power of a kind word, a gentle touch, a listening ear and an act of love. Jennifer kept in touch with everyone, she was truly the glue that held it all together.
Jennifer was more than a scleroderma warrior, she was a strong advocate who worked diligently to promote awareness for the disease. She was the soul and backbone of the Mississauga Support Group. She also took on the role as President of Scleroderma Society of Ontario. Her desire was to bring scleroderma patients together so they felt empowered, infused with hope and embraced in kindness. The scleroderma community mourns the profound loss of their greatest advocate who fought tirelessly for the cause. She made sure everyone’s journey mattered.
How lucky we are to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. Rest easy Jennifer until we meet again, we will miss you with every memory and for every moment.
In lieu of flowers we ask that a donation be made in Jennifer’s memory to the Scleroderma Society of Ontario.

Jen, you always brought light and laughter into our lives. Your absence is felt deeply, and we miss you more than words can express. I promise to look after your brother and be there for Kaiden, ensuring they feel your love surrounding them even in your absence. Please watch over us as we navigate this journey without you by our side. Send us those little signs that remind us of your love; we will cherish them forever. Rest in peace, my dear friend; your spirit will always remain a part of us.

Jen, you were my living angel. You had no judgement and we understood the quietness always being able to give an uplifting word. We were supposed to celebrate our birthdays together as you were so gracious in understanding all I was going through the night of your party. I keep running that convo back in my head. You will never be forgotten. Missed. Forever loved. Heaven gained a true Angel. Your legacy lives on in your beautiful daughter and all those you touched. Rest in peace my beautiful friend.

I have known you for a short while, but I felt we met long time ago. You take care of everyone and treat everyone with great kindness and care. I wish I had known you longer, but your legacy will live on in the beautiful daughter you brought to the world. I promise you, I will do my best to care for Kaiden whenever I am able to. Rest in Peace

Jen, my daily visits will not be the same. You started off as my patient but not long after we became friends. You were always there to listen and give me advice. You liked to create memories and I’m glad for the memories I’ve had with you. From the Jenga in the fridge, to you yelling at me “where’s my tea” and the outburst of laughs we’d have, dinner dates at RedLobster and our marathon of watching “Law and Order” or anything on Netflix.
You battled long and hard but were always strong and a true inspiration to us all.
Stay close my dear friend, until we meet again in time. Rest in peace, I love you and miss you! ❤️
