Jennie Irene Cole-Perkins
April 1, 1927 – October 31, 2024
It is with deep sadness the family of Jennie I. Cole-Perkins announces that she has passed away at the age of 97.
Jennie was born in West Tatamagouche NS and ended her days in comfort at the East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash NS.
She was predeceased by her parents Henry Joseph and Lydia Ruth Cole, her sisters, Helen Ramsay and Agnes Chestnut, former husband Walter Perkins, son-in-law Ian Mosher, as well as her nephew (like a brother) Lawrence (Larry) Cole.
Jennie leaves behind daughters, Valerie (Don) Ruston and Patricia Mosher, grandchildren, Shane (Sarah) Andrews, Jason (Jay) Andrews and great grandchildren, Lochlan and Alex Andrews and numerous nieces and nephews.
Some of Jennie’s fondest memories include taking four stage cable cars to the top of Mount Titlist in Switzerland while on a European vacation with Walter, trips to visit family in England with Valerie & Patricia and another trip with niece Edie Perkins, as well as going for a drive anywhere.
Jennie worked for the Federal Civil Service for twenty-six years, four months and five days. She had the congratulations letter signed by PM Brian Mulroney to prove it. She then retired to Wallace, NS and was immensely proud of her house. She valued her independence. Jennie was also a very talented seamstress and enjoyed the visits from her alteration clients. She hung up that shingle upon turning 90. Jennie’s motto was “Often daunted but never defeated.”
Many thanks to Barb Hurley, Tammy Mehdie, the staff at East Cumberland Lodge and the Medical Staff at The Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Dan and nurses Kim and Amy. Additional thanks to Cory Lunn, Coulter’s Funeral Home, for his compassionate support.
A celebration of Jennie’s life will be held April 1, 2025. Details to follow at a later date.
Donations may be made to the ALS Society of NB & NS, Canadian CHARGE Syndrome Foundation, Royal Canadian Legion Chester Basin Branch #88, The True Patriot Love Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
