Jeanne Mae (McDonald) Antaya, born on January 27, 1940, in Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was married to her lifelong partner, Wayne Antaya, on August 25, 1956. Over the years, they renewed their vows three times, celebrating their enduring commitment to each other.
Jeanne was predeceased by her mother, Mabel Parkinson; her father, John Selkirk McDonald; her step-father, Edward Hall; and her brothers, Billy and Colin. She leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Judy (Rick), Colin (Anita), Gerry (Debbie), and David (Cheryl) and nephew Steve (Monique). She was a proud grandmother to Marie (Jason), Scott (Shelley), Rachelle (Joël), Josh, Alyssa (Ian), Leanne (Mike), Gabrielle (Ryan), Luc (Mel), and Jenna.Her great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Kenzie, Alexandre, Benjamin, Fiona, Jacob, and Rowan, brought her much joy. Many other extended family members and friends will also miss her.
Jeanne’s friendly personality made her a perfect fit for her years working retail at Tom Boy and Eaton’s. She spent her winters in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying the company of friends for 25 years. She also created lasting memories with those she loved for many years at their cottage at Albert Beach.
A natural storyteller, Jeanne loved being surrounded by people. She was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to celebrate life in the most joyful and energetic way. Jeanne’s laughter and love will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on May 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at E.J. Coutu & Co., 680 Archibald Street. We kindly ask that attendees wear colorful attire in celebration of Jeanne’s vibrant personality.
