Jean Gallagher (nee Meehan) Obituary
Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Marianhill in Pembroke, Ontario on Monday, December 30, 2024 at the age of 95.
Dear wife of the late Michael Joseph (M.J.) Gallagher of St. Joseph’s, Quebec. Loving mother of the late James (Maureen Prankie), Joan (John) Prankie, Jerry (Louise Pellerin) and Robert (Christine Allard). Caring grandmother of Gerald (Shelly), Jeffrey (Kayla), David (Julie), Andrea (Felix), Nicholas (Samantha), Christopher (Chelsea), Baylee and Robbie. Great grandmother of Aimee, Chloe, Cohen, Jenna, Nolan, McKenna, Everly, Ryleigh, Kade, James, Chloe, Liam, Noah, Jack, Brock, Lina, Scarlett, Ruby and Benjamin. Beloved sister of the late Lorne (late Loella), Robert (late Laura), late Teresa (late Ted Tryhorn) and Patricia (late Jack McGuire). Jean was the daughter of P.J. and Mary Kate Meehan, and grew up in Sheenboro, Quebec. She will be sadly missed by family and friends
Jean will be remembered for her dedicated service of over 35 years as a Catholic school teacher at St. Joseph’s, in Chapeau, and other small community schools. She was an active St. Joseph’s C.W.L. member for over 60 years.
Jean and M.J. farmed on Allumette Island from 1953 until his passing in 1998. Jean remained on the farm until she moved to Supples Landing Retirement Residence in Pembroke in 2018, and Marianhill in 2022.
The family would like to express their appreciation for all the help from Supples Landing and Marainhill nurses, PSWs, and volunteers who assisted Jean.
Friends and family may call on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Hayes Funeral Home, 56 St. Jacques Street, Chapeau, Quebec from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by Jean’s Funeral Mass which will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, St. Joseph, Quebec at 1 p.m. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery in the spring. Please join our family for refreshments and shared memories, after Mass, in the St Joseph’s Community Hall.
