CULLETON, Katherine Jean Faustina (nee Sparkes) “Jean” –
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Katherine Jean Faustina (nee Sparkes) on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital at the age of 86.
She was the loving mother of her two children: Kim Downey (Mike) and Todd (Dorothy) and will be deeply missed. Adored grandmother of Laura Culleton, Kristen Culleton, Logan Downey, and Brianna Downey. She loved her grandchildren dearly and it brought her great joy to spend time with them and watch them grow.
Dearly loved wife of the late Mike Culleton (2016), whom she married November 16, 1961. She missed him dearly and would make weekly visits to the cemetery to talk with him and prepare for a new journey in the afterlife.
Mom was born on September 23, 1938, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland to the late Eric and Sarah Sparkes. She will be affectionally remembered by her siblings: the late Stewart Sparkes (late Hazel), late Fraser Sparkes, Roland Sparkes (Cindy), late Victoria Davis, late Sylvia Brake (Warren), Rita Cooper (Ken), Donald Sparkes (Edith), and Wanda Labelle (Rick).
Mom approached life with enthusiasm, energy and passion for experiencing all life had to offer. Finding joy in living life, especially socializing with her many friends and family, maintaining contact with those she befriended throughout the years of travel and community organizations.
Resting at Corbett Funeral Home (95 Dundas St., N) where family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 7pm – 9pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1pm, with reception to follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family (payable by cheque or online using the link below).
