With heavy hearts and deep sadness we wish to share with family and friends the passing of Janet (Jan) Elizabeth Elliott into the presence of her Savior and Lord on September 25, 2025.
Jan is survived by her husband of 53 years, Earl; son Darryl (Katie) and grandchildren Camden, Cecelia and Chelsea. Also survived by her brother Peter (Diane) of Ledbury England; brothers-in-law Edward (Diane) of Cambridge and Rick (Barb) of Waterside NB plus nieces and nephews in Canada and England.
Predeceased by her parents Charles and Cecelia Fryar and sister Christine.
Jan was born in Kidderminster England where she trained as Registered Nurse and Midwife. She emigrated to Canada in the 1960s to pursue a nursing career in Fort William, now Thunder Bay Ontario.
Jan graduated from Ontario Bible College, now Tyndale University in 1971 and married Earl in July of 1972.
From 1973 to 1986 Jan and Earl served with SIM International as missionaries in Nigeria and Liberia, West Africa. She returned to England in 1986 to care for her mother and continue nursing until 1990 when they returned to Canada.
Jan will be remembered for the vibrant living out her faith in service to others. On her return to Cambridge she worked for a few years nursing in retirement homes. She furthered her training to become a certified educational therapist working primarily with children with learning disabilities. An encourager, she had an impact in the lives of many, especially ladies suffering with emotional and spiritual hurt. Prayer was a vital part of her life right to the day before her passing. Eternity alone will reveal the full impact she had in the lives of others.
A Celebration of Life for Jan will be held on January 9, 2026 at Forward Church, 55 Franklin Blvd, Cambridge at 11:00AM with visitation from 9:30 to 11:00.
