Born in Stavenisse, Zeeland, The Netherlands.
After a brief illness, quietly at his residence, passing on Friday, May 17, 2025, in his 86th year.
He will be dearly missed by his partner Jenny Qin, Harry Smits, good friends Jan DeVries and Len Roth.
Survived by sister Jannetje (Bram) VanOeveren and Neeltje (the late Huib) Smits, and many nephews, nieces and their families.
Predeceased by his parents Nehemia and Catharina (nee Goedegeburre) Smits. Also, by brothers Abraham (Cornelia) Smits and Jacob (Evertje) Smits, sister Willemina (Pieter) Andriesse, and brother-in-law David Potappel.
Family and friends will be received at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, 45 Main Street West, Norwich, ON, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 10:00-10:45 A.M. Funeral service will be held at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at the Norwich Gore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
