James E. Kowulich age 69 of Elmira Heights , NY passed away unexpectedly on Monday February 10, 2025 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Jim was born January 8, 1956 in Elmira , NY the son of the late William and Elizabeth Simmonds Kowulich. He was a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School in 1974 and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. Jim married his wife , Rebecca Folmer Kowulich, on September 21, 1991 and the would have celebrated their 34th Wedding Anniversary this coming September. He was a police officer with The Elmira Heights Police Department . Jim and his wife were members of The North Presbyterian Church in Elmira, NY. He and his brother Bill “Stick” were sports and trivia buffs and could recall so many things that they were “Go to Guys” for sports trivia. Jim loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Jim was pre-deceased by his brother William E. “Stick” Kowulich on August 25, 2022. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Rebecca “Becky” Kowulich; his sons: Joseph Kowulich and Cali Johnson of Ithaca, NY and Michael Kowulich of Rochester, NY ; sisters: Barbara Kowulich and Beverly Kowulich both of Rochester , NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins, extended family , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim’s Memorial Service at North Presbyterian Church 921 College Avenue Elmira , NY on Saturday February 15, 2025 at 2 PM with The Rev. Evan D. Hansen officiating.
