It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Watkins peacefully at Peterborough Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Jenny Watkins. Cherished brother of Sharon (Tom) Blewett, Uncle to Julie (Brian) Oleksiuk, Craig (Sarah) Blewett. Great Uncle to Kyle, Chloe, Jack , Grace, Charlie, Emma and Mary. Jim was predeceased by his two buddies, Doug Clifford and David Quinlan.
Jim lived at St Monica’s House for 32 years. Heartfelt thanks to all Jim’s caregivers who impacted his life. Special thanks to Audrey Goucher and Lisa Rodriguez who loved and cared for him these last few years. Jim was loved and supported by numerous cousins, friends, especially, Dan Gemmiti, Dan Burns, and Stefan Rodriguez and the Rodriguez family. Jim enjoyed his time with Trafalgar school, attending Community Living, VON, ARC Industries, working at Walmart and volunteering with the City Police – which was such a joy for Jim. Special thanks to Dr. Gifford for his care.
Everyone that met Jim fell in love with him. He was such a special person, who had a smile and hug for everyone.
Family and friends will be received at Ashburnham Funeral Home and Reception Centre – 840 Armour Rd, Peterborough on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 2-4 pm. Words of Remembrance at 2:30 pm.
Interment will take place at a later date. In memory of Jim, donations to the Downs Syndrome Association of Peterborough, VON Victoria Order of Nurses, or a charity of your choice would be greatly be appreciated.
