James’ Obituary
Saulnier, James – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, who passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital at the age of 90 on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025. Born in Meteghan River, he was a son of the late James and Esther (Comeau) Saulnier.
James was well known throughout the community for his sense of humor and friendliness towards every person he met. He was always ready to tell a joke! He started selling cars at a young age in Yarmouth; quite the salesman we were told. After a few years, he found his true calling, best bus driver to hundreds of kids for 35 years. He loved being a bus driver and would often meet people who’d tell him … “You were the best bus driver James”. He took such pride in those words. His passion for ox pulls and exhibitions were still a huge part of his life. Every summer with P’tit Charles by his side, they attended every ox pull. James was very sociable and enjoyed his friends immensely. Almost every morning his regular coffee crew stopped in for coffee and chats, especially his lifelong friend, Ernie; we cannot thank you enough for these acts of kindness you showed him. People will miss seeing him in his garage most summer nights, sitting in his chair and entertaining guests, especially John and Hersey; just another favorite pastime of his.
Now he can rest in peace with his beloved Phyllis. A man dedicated to his family, he is survived by his children, Donna Saulnier, Hammonds Plains; Marcel (Joceline), Little Brook; Yvonne (Guy) Mombourquette, Meteghan River; sisters, Annette Thibodeau and Lorraine Thimot, both of Saulnierville; grandchildren, Donald, Nicolette, Oriane, Renée; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Savannah.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Marie; siblings, Délina, Jeannine, Elzée, Ralph, Gilfred.
Dad always said life was about living, and for 90 years that is exactly what he did! He lived life to the fullest. He was blessed with so many caring friends who always took time to stop in and visit. The family is so grateful to all of you who helped dad along the way and made him part of your lives. He will be missed by so many and remembered by all.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. As per James wishes, a public graveside service will be held at a later date in Stella Maris Cemetery (date to be announced).
Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. “In memory of our dad, pass along a joke and be kind to others”.
