James Olfrey Obituary
James Norman Olfrey was born on January 10, 1949, in Swan River, Manitoba, to Norman and Vera Olfrey. He was one of four children, growing up alongside his siblings, Gloria (Lenard) Brewski, Bernice (Wilfred) Palaniuk, and Allan (Diane) Olfrey, who now survive him.
James, affectionately known as Jim, was first married to Deanne Lareau, and together they had three children: Judy (Kevin) Olfrey and the twins Michelle Szajewski and Naomi (Carl) Lundgren. Jim was also a loving grandfather to his granddaughters, Amber and Kylie. He spoke highly of them and always with a smile on his face. Jim’s love extended beyond his immediate family to his numerous nieces and nephews. Following their divorce, Jim later found happiness again with his second wife, Gloria Olfrey (Bockus), who predeceased him.
A dedicated and successful business owner in the trucking industry, Jim was known for his work ethic and achievements. But beyond his professional life, Jim’s heart was always with his family. His children were his main love and priority.
Jim had a passion for playing softball with his many friends, and he also loved stock car racing and demolition driving. After retiring, Jim found relaxation and joy at the local casino, where he cultivated many friendships and became a well-loved figure. His compassionate nature and zest for life were evident to all who knew him, and he remained full of life right up until the end.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held, and cremation has taken place. James Norman Olfrey’s legacy of love, hard work, and compassion will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
