James “Jimmy” et Lucille Bertrand Obituary
It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved parents, Lucille and Jim Bertrand.
Jim passed away on December 26, 2024 at the age of 80, just one day after his devoted wife, Lucille, who passed away on December 25, 2024 at the age of 82. Their passing, so close together, reflects the deep love and bond they shared throughout their lives.
Jim was born on March 9, 1944 in Davidson, Quebec, and Lucille was born on June 26, 1942 in Fort-Coulonge, Quebec. They were married on June 25, 1966 and spent 58 years together, building a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for each other.
Jim was known for his kindness and warm, friendly nature. He loved to travel and socialize with people and made everyone feel welcome. In his earlier years, Jim was a skilled bush pilot. Later, he fulfilled his entrepreneurial spirit by owning his own business, where he made lasting connections and continued to serve his community until his retirement.
Lucille devoted her entire professional career to teaching at the high school level, where she was beloved by her students. She had a special way of making each student feel valued and important, and she always took the time to help anyone in need, whether in the classroom or outside of it. Lucille’s love for cooking, especially baking, was evident to everyone who knew her. She also had a passion for working in her flower garden, where she found peace and joy in nurturing the plants she loved. Lucille had the kindest heart and cared deeply for everyone in her life, always going out of her way to offer love, support, and kindness to those around her.
Jim and Lucille were the proud parents of three children: Michelle Bertrand, Charles Bertrand, and Naomi Bertrand Bergeron. They were incredibly proud of their children and the family they created, and their love for them was boundless. They were also deeply bonded with their granddaughter, Nina Bertrand, who was considered a daughter by them. Nina shared a remarkably close, loving relationship with Jim and Lucille, and they cherished the time spent with her. In addition to Nina, they are survived by their grandsons Félix-Noël and Liam Bergeron, and their great-grandson James Savage.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Félix Bertrand and his mother, Alma Bertrand. He is survived by his brother Carl Bertrand.
Lucille was predeceased by her father Montague Perreault, her mother Geraldine Perreault, her sisters: Arlette Graveline, Claudette Léonard, Hélène Perreault and her brothers: Lorenzo and Hector Perreault. She is survived by her sisters: Rita Romain, Blanche Dumouchel, Jeanne D’Arc Vadneau, Carmen Marion, Diane Paré, and Cécile Rivet, and her brothers: Lucien and Michel Perreault.
Charles extends his heartfelt thanks to Cédric and Naomi for opening their home to Jim and Lucille for the last few months of their lives, to Michelle and Nina for being there when needed, and to Cécile Rivet for helping take care of her sister Lucille during this time.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in l’Église St-Pierre, Fort-Coulonge, Quebec at 11:00 AM. Jimmy and Lucille will be laid to rest together in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Jim est décédé le 26 décembre 2024, à l’âge de 80 ans, un jour seulement après son épouse dévouée, Lucille, décédée le 25 décembre 2024, à l’âge de 82 ans. Leur décès, si proche ensemble, reflète l’amour profond et le lien qu’ils ont partagé tout au long de leur vie.
Jim est né le 9 mars 1944 à Davidson, Québec et Lucille est née le 26 juin 1942, à Fort-Coulonge, Québec. Ils se sont mariés le 25 juin 1966 et ont passé 58 ans ensemble, construit une vie remplie d’amour, de rire et de soutien inébranlable les uns pour les autres. Jim était connu pour sa gentillesse et sa nature chaleureuse et amicale. Il aimait voyager et socialiser avec les gens et a fait en sorte que tout le monde se sente bienvenu. Dans ses premières années, Jim était un pilote de brousse qualifié. Plus tard, il a accompli son esprit d’entreprise en possédant son propre commerce, où il a réalisé les bénéfices d’amitié véritable et a continué à servir sa communauté jusqu’à sa retraite.
Lucille a consacré toute sa carrière professionnelle à l’enseignement au secondaire, où elle était aimée de ses élèves. Elle avait une manière particulière de faire en sorte que chaque élève se sente valorisé et important, et elle prenait toujours le temps d’aider toute personne dans le besoin, que ce soit en classe ou en dehors de celui-ci. L’amour de Lucille pour la cuisine, en particulier la pâtisserie, était évident pour tous ceux qui la connaissaient. Elle avait également une passion pour le travail dans son jardin fleuri, où elle trouvait la paix et la joie à entretenir les plantes qu’elle aimait. Lucille avait le cœur le plus gentil et se souciait profondément de tout le monde dans sa vie, faisant toujours de son mieux pour offrir amour, soutien et gentillesse à ceux qui l’entourent.
Jim et Lucille étaient les fiers parents de trois enfants; Michelle Bertrand, Charles Bertrand et Naomi Bertrand Bergeron. Ils étaient incroyablement fiers de leurs enfants et de la famille qu’ils ont créé, et leur amour pour eux était sans limites. Ils étaient également profondément liés à leur petite-fille, Nina Bertrand, qu’ils considéraient comme leur fille. Nina a partagé une relation remarquablement proche et aimante avec Jim et Lucille, et ils ont adoré le temps passé avec elle. Outre Nina, ils laissent dans le deuil leurs petits-fils, Félix-Noël et Liam Bergeron et leur arrière-petit-fils, James Savage.

Charles remercie chaleureusement Cédric et Naomi d’avoir ouvert leur maison à Jim et Lucille pour les derniers mois de leur vie, à Michelle et Nina pour avoir été là en cas de besoin et à Cécile Rivet pour avoir aidé à prendre soin de sa sœur Lucille pendant cette période.
La messe des funérailles sera célébrée le mardi 7 janvier 2025 à l’église St-Pierre, Fort-Coulonge, Québec à 11h. Jimmy et Lucille reposeront ensemble au cimetière paroissial au printemps.
