With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis. James Dennis Shobbrook was born in Seaforth Ontario on September 23, 1937. He died on August 14, 2025 in Cambridge.
He is reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Carole Ann (nee Wright) who left us in February 2024.
He is deeply missed by his daughters Kimberley Ann McComb and Cindy Lou Shobbrook (John Racher), his granddaughters Lindsay Mayhew (Ben) Catherine Pinsent (Will) and great grandsons Derek and Jason.
His parents Howard and Alice Shobbrook, as well as Percy and Bessie McBride who raised Dennis as their own son in Goderich, predecease him. He was adored by his in-laws Harold and Sophia Wright.
His brothers Rae Shobbrook (Marilyn), Gordon Shobbrook (Darlene), nephew Trent Shobbrook and brother in law Wayne Wright predecease him.
What a happy reunion it will be.
Dennis is remembered by his brother-and-sisters-in-law Harold Wright (Winnie), Marilyn Syrie, Susan Wright and Wendy Reid. He is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Sharon Shobbrook, Sheila Armstrong (Terry), Bradley Shobbrook (Diane), Darrell Shobbrook, Diana Sjaarda (Mark), Linda Krusky (Mark) Lisa Reid (Jamie), Lori Naylor (Allan) and Mathew Reid.
Dennis was highly regarded as owner and craftsman of Star Construction Ltd. for over 50 years and has left his mark on the Tri-City Region. He had an uncanny ability to build, fix and restore just about anything. Dennis could be heard saying, “I can build anything – the impossible will take a little longer”. He was right.
Dennis loved the outdoors. He loved being on the water in his motor boat with family and friends. In his younger years, he was an amazing water skier. He was passionate about vintage cars and trucks and often had a project on the go in his workshop. He loved the Blue Jays, sunflowers, roller-skating and had a lifelong love of animals. Doggies Ruby and Lewis dearly miss him.
Dennis’ family thank his extraordinary care team for their enduring compassion: Dr. Celine Sandor, nurses Jodie Pickles, Geeta, Christina, Rodin, Armanda, Joanne and Jillian. We are deeply appreciative for the superb PSW team who carried us over time – Karrie, Melodina, Ufoma, Mariya, Sheri, Michaela, Farhiya, Christina, Alice, Moses, Mauritzio, and Kim.

Celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at Corbett Funeral Home in Cambridge on Thursday August 21 from 1-4 pm.
