Obituary of Jack McMillan
It is with heavy hearts that the family of John (Jack) Douglas McMillan, announce his unexpected passing which occurred on February 24th, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sus on April 15, 1954, he was the son of the late Purdy and Margaret (Muir) McMillan.
Jack is survived by his loving children: Chris McMillan (Kelly) of Quispamsis, NB, Steve McMillan (Renée) of Searsville, NB, and Jennifer Boyle (Michael) of Rothesay, NB; grandchildren: Brett, Paige, Shane, Kyle (Molly), Keegan (Alex), Emma, Kate, Rachael and Logan; great grandchildren: Kennedy, Gabrielle and Jacob; siblings: Larry (Bernice), Janet Duke (Dale), Pat Phippen (Ed), Rick (Karen), Teri Madden (Adrian), Michael (Carol), Kathy Hatfield (Mark), Tim (Sherri), Jeff (Marilyn), brother-in-law Rich Park, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his wife Joan and his sister, Debby Park.
Jack will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, and how much he loved making others laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether fixing machinery or offering advice. Jack was a proud, lifelong entrepreneur and was often sought out for his guidance and wisdom. Jack always put the needs of others ahead of his own and he was more than a mentor; he was a friend. The loss of his friendship, knowledge, wisdom and his love for his family will be felt by many. The loss of Jack is softened some by the thought of him being with Joan again (although even in Heaven, he’s probably heading to work after driving her crazy with his antics).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton. A celebration of Jack’s life will occur on Sunday, March 2nd from 1pm to 5 pm, at the Belleisle Community Centre, located at 1648 Route 124, Springfield.
