Obituary of Jack Ernest Harris
It’s with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Jack Ernest Harris of the former Caradoc Township, now Mount Brydges, on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Strathroy Hospital in his 95th year.
Beloved husband of the late Marion Harris (nee: Colvin) (2011). Loving father of Jeff (Heather) Harris. Proud grandpa of Jayson (Carol), Chris (Denise), Skeeter (Tammy), Julie (Marcus), Steven (Alyssa), Robert (Heather), Andrew, Becky (Megan), and dear great grandpa of 8 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter Ruthanne Pallister (2020) Keith, his son Ernie (2023), his parents Ernest and Jessie (nee: Brearly), his brothers Clifford and Gordon, and his sisters Lillian Moore and Marguerite Karl (Harry).
Jack was born on the farm in Caradoc Township where he lived and farmed his entire life. He enjoyed many winters in Florida with his wife and friends. He was a very active member in the community. He was a lifetime member of the Mt. Brydges Lions Club, a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 251, Mount Brydges and a Fair Board member for many years. Jack was one of the coordinators in the building of the Tri-Township Arena in Mount Brydges and was involved in the care of the facility for many years. With the loss of Jack, a huge piece of Caradoc Township’s history and its historical preservation has been lost.
As per Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Jack can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, 2500 Veterans Drive, Mount Brydges, ON N0L 1W0 gratefully acknowledged.
