Pelletterio, J. Michael
Died peacefully on Tuesday April 8, 2025 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood at the age of 66 after a 10 year valiant and inspirational battle with cancer.
Michael of Wasaga Beach and formally, Mississauga / Oakville was the beloved spouse and best friend of Shelley Weichel Pelletterio. Dear step-father of Tyler (Mathilda) Weichel and Joshua (Erin) Weichel whom he was blessed to have as sons later in his life. Cherished grandpa of Henri Gustavsson, his little Leaf buddy. Loving first born son of Janet Pelletterio and the late David Pelletterio. “Irish twin” brother of Richard (Janet) and baby sister Nancy (David Jones). Michael will also be missed by Shelley’s parents Mildred Lambe (Jim Park), the late Joe Lambe, brother in law and bud, Dale Lambe and sister in law, Sharon Lambe, his nieces, nephews and his loving sweet boy Max.
Mike shared a special bond and friendship with his huge extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael was fiercely loyal of those who he held in his heart and as his high school bud, Duane said “Mike never had a negative thing to say about anyone”He was cherished by his family, lifelong neighbourhood, school and ski friends as well as neighbours who became like family at his home on the river. The highlight of summers being an after dinner boat run out to embrace a beautiful sunset on the bay. An accomplished skier, he half teasingly referred to Blue Mountain as HIS mountain. Après ski at Jozo’s and après, après shenanigans formed enduring friendships. . “He had many passions including travel, photography, food, cooking, 70’s rock and his career, particularly in his later years where he was valued and respected. He enjoyed the political theatre and would often engage in deep debates with whomever was brave enough to participate. His memory will remain indelibly imprinted on all those who loved him.
A private celebration will be held at his home at a later date. If desired, a donation to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation, Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House or the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
