Isaac Doble Obituary
Isaac was born an only child to Herman & Mary Doble on September 24th, 1956 in Calgary, Alberta. He was raised with deep Christian values and beliefs.
Growing up on an acreage in the Westerose area, Isaac attended Pigeon Lake School. Tragically, when he was only 12 years old, his father passed away, marking a pivotal moment in his young life. Isaac carried forward the values of hard work, resilience and kindness that his parents had instilled in him. As an adult, he was known for his strong work ethic in everything he did. He ran his own towing company for several years and was a certified locksmith, proudly owning and operating Grandview Mobile Lock Shop. He also worked as a truck operator with Ermineskin Technical Services and with Ermineskin Public Works. For many years, Isaac served his community as a taxi driver, where his reliable service made him a local fixture among the residents of Wetaskiwin and Maskwacîs.
Isaac’s love for animals was one of the defining aspects of his life. He had a particular fondness for birds and dogs. Once, he rescued an injured pigeon that became a treasured companion. He had two beloved dogs, Speed and V, who were more than just pets, they were his “babies”. Isaac often spoke of them with affection and they were his faithful companions. Sadly, they passed away in October and November 2024, leaving a deep void in Isaac’s life. His bond with them was a reflection of his caring nature.
Isaac was culturally adopted by Timber Wolfe of Maskwacîs. Isaac spent time with the Wolfe family, where he was truly one of them. Birthdays, special holidays, Easter, and Christmas, he would enjoy a good meal, as he had a very healthy appetite! He enjoyed the fun activities and good fellowship with them. He became especially close to the family after the passing of his mother in 2013, often seen pulling into the driveway in his tow truck, and spending an afternoon or evening at the main house or in one of the siblings homes where family was gathering together. He had found a second home.
Though his mobility was limited he did not hesitate to participate in playing outdoor volleyball, hit a few rounds of golf and allow his boyish character to come out at birthday parties. He was a lot of fun and there was always a lot of laughter when he was around. These moments became even more treasured as his health limited his ability to attend family gatherings. During Isaac’s employment with Ermineskin Technical Services, he enrolled in the Cree classes offered. Often, he could be heard calling the family and saying “Tansi”. One could tell he was proud of conversing, even in a limited way, as both the person he was calling and himself would chuckle at their responses in Cree. Isaac also liked attending the Chuckwagon races, rodeos and annual Pow Wows in Maskwacîs. The excitement of the teams of horses racing at the Panee track, the bulls waiting to be ridden at the rodeos, the colorful regalia of the dancers and drummers drumming and singing at Bear Park were things he enjoyed in his leisure time and often attended with someone from the Wolfe family. With his skills as a general all-around jack of all trades, he helped build corrals, weld steel gates, pick up and haul bales and share his knowledge on how to do things. He was a good, reliable, hardworking helper who always carried his weight when help was needed.
Isaac’s kind, caring and generous heart will be missed by those closest to him. Though his health challenges meant many conversations were held over the phone, the sound of his voice, the chitter-chatter of daily life and the comfort of his friendship will remain a cherished memory. He will be greatly missed.
Isaac is survived by his culturally adopted family, his brother Timber Wolfe of Maskwacîs; his sister May Ermineskin of Maskwacîs and the Wolfe family, co-workers and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Mary Doble, and grandparents, Albert and Olive Fontaine.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Maskwacîs Bible Fellowship Church (West off Hwy 2A, South end of Maskwacîs), with a time for fellowship and refreshments following.
Private interment services will be held at a later date.
