SZABO, Irene (nee Herman) – promoted to the loving arms of her Lord & Saviour at the Cedarwood Village Nursing Home, Simcoe on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 in her 86th year. Beloved wife of Antal Szabo of Waterford. Loving mother of Mary Shabatura (John) of Windham Centre, Antal Szabo Jr. (Lisa) of Brantford, John Szabo (Jean) of Norwich and the late Steve Szabo – 2024 (Debbie McKenzie) of Latchford. Cherished grandmother & great grandmother of Tiffany Chanyi (Eric), children Carson & Halle; Peter Shabatura (Victoria), sons Mason & Connor; Jason Szabo (Carly), children Hudson, Jace & Lily; Jill Szabo, her children Savanna, Taylor & Oaklyn; Jeremy Szabo (Natalie), son Archer; Jonathon Szabo (Michelle), daughters Brooklyn & Makenzie; Justin Szabo; Jesse Szabo (Sarah); Steven Szabo Jr., daughter Joelle; Justin Good & Niana Good. Lovingly remembered by her sister of Julie Kover (late Alex) of Waterford, their children the late Frank, Julie, Alex & families; and by her brother Lou Herman (Ann) of Brantford, their son Christopher & family. Irene will be sadly missed by several siblings and extended family in Hungary. Friends are invited to share their memories of Irene with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Irene’s homegoing service will be held at Boston Baptist Church, 2985 Cockshutt Rd. Waterford on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Steve Woods officiating. Private family interment: Greenwood Cemetery, Waterford.
