Irene Margaret Varjassy, born on March 10, 1936, was sent to her eternal home on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Regina, SK. She was the beloved daughter of Andrew and Rosie Beresh.
Irene was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember Irene for the way her life was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Irene was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Kalman Varjassy; great- grandaughters Guinivere and Chloe; and her youngest son, Edward.
Irene is survived by four sons: Robert (Debbie), Fred (Wanda), Donald (Sheila), Gerald (Helen): daughter-in-law Lois; grandchildren Kela, Cody (Samantha), Riley, Shaunna, Joshua, Kole, Aaron, Jennelle, Craig (Michelle), Bryn (Sim), and Jensen (Cole); and great-grandchildren Serenity, Avangelina, Lincoln, Hunter, Clover, Natalia, Carson, Carter, McKenzie and Thomas.
Irene was raised on the family farm in the Bekavar Community in Saskatchewan and went on to marry Kalman and raise their five sons on the Varjassy family farm. All five boys were avid baseball players, and their mom was their biggest fan. Irene was an amazing cook, excelling at the classic Hungarian cuisine she grew up with.
Once her children were grown, Irene went on to earn accreditation in the cooking field and took on a career as cook in the Kipling Seniors Home, a position she held for many years until her retirement.
She and Kalman later moved into Kipling where she was a keen volunteer with the Bekavar Ladies Association helping to cater for weddings, anniversaries, etc.
Although Irene’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May Irene’s memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. Her light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
