Irena passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Freeport Hospital. She leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law Oksana (Uwe) Brode, Lutz (Michale) Brode and their 3 children, Samantha Brode, cousin Lida (Vlodko) Artymyshyn and their 2 children and many nieces and nephews in Germany.
Irena was predeceased by her husband Carl, parents Vladimir and Christine Komar, sister-in-law and brother-in-law in Germany and nephew Andrew Brode.
Irena was an accomplished and credited Pianist musician. That was her passion, she even created a CD of her playing the piano. She was also an Interior Designer along side her husband Carl, who owned and operated Axel Schrupp Interiors from 1972 until they closed the business in 1992. She loved her family to no end, especially her beloved Carl.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, 10:00-11:30 a.m at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge. Funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Private Burial at New Hope Cemetery followed by a reception at Lounsbury Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
