Moncton, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Reginald Coates, 80, on Friday, February 7th, 2025, at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Reginald and the late Hilda (Clements) Coates.
Prior to his retirement, he was a school bus driver for over 25 years. Wayne was a carpenter by trade and built many projects for friends and family, including the cradle when his grandson was born and most recently the ramp to assist his wife’s mobility.
He was close with Coates cousins: Ralph, Stewart and Allan.
He was an avid bowler and was on many leagues over the years until recently. He also, enjoyed square and round dancing with his wife and friends. She made all the variety of outfits in order to match her skirts.
He was especially proud of his grandson, William, he was “Papa’s Boy”, his goal was to be at his graduation in 2023.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Chappell) Coates; by his daughter, Vicki Coates Posch (Ken) of Boundary Creek; by his son, Dwayne Coates (Angie) of Moncton; by his grandson, William Posch, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters: Brenda and Marion and by his brothers: Glenn and Ken.
As per his wishes, there will no visitation, a Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In Wayne’s memory, a donation can be made to the Harvest House.
