Grand-Barachois, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Shawn Brent Rotteau, 65, that occurred on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.
Shawn will be greatly missed by his wife, Carolyn Myers Rotteau; his two daughters: Lindsay Rotteau-Salmi (Chad), and Chelsea Bobra (Stephen); Papa to Olive, and Grandpa to Winnifred, Sebastian, Benjamin, and Sullivan. He also leaves to mourn his brother James (Lori) and two sisters: Mary Van Rompaey (late Ted), and Violet Anderson (Ian); his brother/sister inlaws Linda Lotz (Randy), and Barb Heibein (Bruce) as well as several nieces and nephews.
Shawn had a great love for music of all kinds and influenced his daughter’s passion for it. Shawn loved nothing better than a day fishing for stripers, fixing his cars, attending classic car shows, renovations around the house, going for long drives along the shore and walks on the beach. Shawn was known for his contagious laugh and smile and his willingness to help anybody. The Montreal Canadiens and the St. Louis Cardinals have lost one of their biggest fans. But his greatest pride in life was his two daughters and his grandchildren who he called his grannies. The grandchildren will have many fond memories of Grandpa rough housing with them playfully, trying any new activity they asked him to, cheering them on at their various activities, playing guess that tune with Papa and above all spoiling them.
No visitation or funeral service will be held at his request.
In Shawn’s memory, a donation can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis, the IWK Hospital, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
