Saint-Antoine, N.B. – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jérôme Bastarache, 93 years old, of La Résidence Au Bénaise, in Saint-Antoine-de-Kent, who passed away after a brief illness, on January 19, 2025, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
Born in Bouctouche on October 11, 1931, he was the son of the late Elzéare Bastarache and the late Marie-Luce (Arsenault) Bastarache and the husband of the late Yvette (Cormier) Bastarache (2012).
He is survived by his four children: Debbie (Normand) Allain of Saint-Damien, Terry (Marie-Josée) of Saint-Damien, Ricky (Jeannette) of Moncton, and Peter (Angele) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; his two sisters: Prémilia Bastarache (Sister Regina) of Queen of Heaven Solitude, Missouri, USA, and Maria Cormier of Moncton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Jérôme was a great lover of fishing, whether it was salmon or trout, on a riverbank, a lake or even in Saint-Edouard-de-Kent, it was his favorite pastime.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Angele and Lisianne, and his five brothers, Neri, Adrien, Roméo, Arthur and Joseph.
Visitations will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 2 pm to 4 pm only at Passage-Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de L’Église, Bouctouche, NB. At the family’s request, there will be no funeral service.
