Moncton, N.-B – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Emma Gautreau, 94, that occurred on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Born in Memramcook on May 25th, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Damien Cormier and the late Alva (Landry) Cormier.
Emma worked at the old Eaton’s Department Store in her younger years and she also babysat many children in her home over the years. She loved watching her beloved Montreal Canadians and the Toronto Blue Jays with her late husband, Cléophas. She loved gardening & cooking and always had a big meal ready for anyone who dropped in for a visit.
She will be sadly missed by her seven children: Gilles (Manon Bossé) of Rothesay, Josette (Stephen) Day, Marc (Janice), Maria (late Bobby) Spencer, and Jean-Guy (Liette Benoit) all four of Dieppe, Francine Gautreau of Ottawa, and Jacques (Nicole) of Dieppe; her sixteen grandchildren: Sofie, Antoine, Thomas, Craig, Alyssa, Brian, Eric, Martin, Anik, Ashley, Kara, Samuel, Catherine, Julianne, Emilie and Valerie; her three great grandchildren: Miah, Alex and Jackson; her two sisters: Marie (late Ralph) Saulnier of Lynnfield, Mass., and Jeannette (late Maurice) Boudreau of Memramcook; her brother, Damien (Aline) of Memramcook; her two sisters-in-laws: Télorise and Yvonne; as well as several nieces, nephews, a special sister-in-law Huberte Gautreau, and a special family friend, Lise Doucet.
Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cléophas Gautreau (2023); and her siblings: Théosane (Thomas), Leo, Florence (Thomas), Eveline (Paul-Emile), Alyre (Andréa), Alonzo (Aurela), Wilfred (Rita), Owen (Rita), Valerie, and Bernard.
The family would like to thank Dre. Catherine David & Dre. Robyn Comeau for their great medical care. A very special thank you to the wonderful nurses from the Extra-Mural Program for their dedication, expertise & exceptional home care during the last 2 years.
