Saint-Antoine, NB – It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Aurèle Babineau, 99, on January 29th, 2025, at the Résidence Bénaise, Saint-Antoine, NB.
Born in Grande-Digue, NB, he was the son of the late Donat Babineau and the late Azélie (Richard) Babineau.
He was the last surviving veteran of the second word war in Saint-Antoine, he was a member of the Bouctouche Legion, he was also awarded the title of honorary president of the historical committee during the 2023 celebration in Saint-Antoine. Aurèle worked at different jobs during his life such as farmhand, lumberjack, carpenter and working at different sawmills. In his retirement he took to fabricating quilting hoops.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters: Marie Babineau of Moncton, Annette Babineau (Géatan) of Saint-Hubert, QC; by his son: Jacques Babineau (Rolande) of Saint-Antoine; by his sisters: Jeannette Girouard (Paul), Mai Cormier, and Louise Christopher (Joe) all from Saint-Antoine; by his brothers: Gérald Babineau (Lucille) of TerreBonne, QC, and Ernest Babineau (Barbara) of Saint-Antoine; by his sisters in law: Eugénie Babineau of Rogersville, Bella Richard of Laval, QC, and Gloria Léger of Saint-Antoine; by his brother in law: Gérald Léger of Richibucto; by his grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s: Michel Babineau (Blanca) of Saint-Antoine, Nicolas Babineau (Cathy) and their children: Rochelle, and Fabien of Vancouver, André Babineau (Rachel) of Moncton, Luc Paulin (Karine) and their children: Victoria, and Charles of Longueil, QC, Julie Paulin (Jonathan) and their daughter: Léane of Chambly, QC, and Nathalie Pauline (Gabrielle) and their daughter: Lili-Jade of Saint-Hubert, QC.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Thérèse (Léger) Babineau; his son: Robert (Donna); his brothers: Yvon,Donald and infant Alphonse; his sisters: Aline, Rita,Lina and infant Marie.
The Family would like to express their gratitude to the Résidence Bénaise for taking great care of their father.
Visitation will be announced at a later date.
