Peacefully, at Brantford General Hospital, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in his 92nd year, Hugh Maxwell, beloved husband of the late Janet Maxwell (nee Whyte). Loving father of Clark (Colleen) Maxwell, Heather (John) Searl, Scott (Patricia) Maxwell. Dear brother of the late Helen Hoskin and brother-in-law of Margaret Whyte and the late Tommy Whyte, and their three sons Alan, Andrew, Graham (Amanda). Much loved grandfather of Candace (Will), Connor (Emma), Brianne (Thor), Adam (Nicole), Scotty and great-grandfather of Hayes, Scotlyn, Paisley, Bennett.
Hugh was born on August 1, 1933 in Paisley, Scotland, and joined the Royal Air Force at 18 yrs, where he spent 2 years as an airplane mechanic. Hugh met and married the love of his life, his late wife Janet Wales Whyte, also from Paisley. Before moving to Toronto, Canada in 1966, Hugh and Janet had their first 2 children, Clark and Heather, and then welcomed their 3rd child, Scott, after arriving in Canada. Hugh was a successful journeyman for his entire career, well into his 70’s. He started golfing at 70 which he enjoyed very much.
Hugh was a loving and well-loved family man, and he was blessed with loving daughter-in-laws, a wonderful son-in-law, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. Hugh was a friendly, charming, and funny man, always striving to make people around him laugh, and always treating all those he met with kindness and respect.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantford. If wished, memorial donations to The Cancer Society gratefully appreciated.
