Hugh Boland
Hugh Boland of Riverbend Retirement Home, Cambridge and formerly of Ayr Ontario passed away at St Josephs Health Centre, Guelph, on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 91 years of age. Cherished husband of 70 years to Betty (nee Ford), Beloved father to Don (Patricia), Heather Connell (the late Rick) and Dave (Laura), much loved grandfather to Kyle (Andrea) Kevin (Brittney) and Chris, and Chloe (Andrew), Jake (Nicole) and Taylor as well as 5 great-grandchildren. Sadly, missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Boland (nee Cruickshank), as well as his siblings Jim and Margaret. Dad was a dedicated family man who spent his entire life making sure the ones he loved were happy and well cared for. Always putting their needs ahead of his own. He crafted a wonderful life with Mom and us in Reidsville. They built a house in 1962 with the help of his brother Jim, and other friends from the trades. We all flourished there. They sold the property in 2014 and moved back into Ayr. The last 2 1/2 years were spent at Riverbend in Cambridge. Dad and Mom loved to travel and as a young family we covered most parts of North America camping along the way. Later in life Mom and Dad traveled the world enjoying an Alaska Cruise and Barbados to mention a few of their destinations. Dad was an electrician by trade and was very well respected in that circle. He was called upon many, many times for his advice and guidance by others in the trades. Dad set the bar high for us in terms of what it meant to lead a life of purpose. He taught us through example, and those values and traditions live on through us to our children and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Family and Friends are invited to join in celebrating Hugh’s life with visitation and a bite to eat, at Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Ayr Chapel, 183 Northumberland St. Ayr, on Thursday August 14, 2025, from 1-4 pm. Interment at Ayr Cemetery at a later date.
