Obituary for
Hubert Kracher
Hubert Kracher was born on May 25, 1929, in Oberaudorf, a beautiful alpine village in Bavaria. Hubert, of Edmonton, AB left us on December 23, 2024, at the age of 95. May his soul rest in peace.
Hubert had an adventurous spirit as a young man, and he immigrated to Canada in July 1952. He arrived in Halifax August 19 and was designated to work on a farm in Ontario. When he had saved enough money to go by Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) to Field, BC, Hubert worked there as a logger. Unfortunately, machinery frequently broke down – no work! So, he hitched a ride on the back of a pickup truck of fellow workers in January 1955 to Edmonton. There he was hired an as apprentice butcher at New Art Meats. Saving money again, he brought over his sweetheart Therese. They had three dear children, Marlene (Ivano), Peter, and Monica who was later their caregiver. Marlene and Ivano presented them with three lovely grandchildren, Aurora (Ralph), Orion (Cindy), and Aaron (Andrea) who gave them six wonderful great grandchildren, Eric, Nikita, Mila, Layla, Colby, and Flynn. Therese and the family remember Hubert forever. Also mourning Hubert are his brother, Siegfried (Lisa), with Christian (Nadine) and Michael (Stephi) with Valentina in Germany, his sister, Johanna (Peter) and niece, Silvia (Lothar) and family, of Switzerland. Nephew, Richard (Louise) and family of St. Albert; cousin, Paula and family; and still keeping in contact with his second cousin, Johannes (Christine) and Wolfgang (Elisabeth) and family of Germany; also, his brother, in law, Peter; and friend, Lothar who came with the same boat!
Hubert was a good downhill skier, enjoyed cross-country skiing, and was an avid fisherman on ice, lakes, rivers, and the ocean. In later years, he and Therese enjoyed wine-tasting in the Okanogan and spa-ing.
The family thanks Dr. Perez and the nursing staff of Villa Caritas who cared for Hubert.
