Hilda Wiebe (nee Schroeder)
It is with heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of our mother, Hilda Wiebe (nee Schroeder) on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the age of 90. She is now united with her parents, Rudolf & Ottilia Schroeder, her brothers Ben, Eldon & Alex, her sisters Gert, Ruth, Alice & Lydia as well as her long-time companion Bob Durst.
Hilda was born in Lockwood, SK and grew up in Drake, SK. She began her work life for the Bank of Commerce in Regina & Saskatoon, then moved to Ottawa in 1959. She lived overseas for 10 years as a diplomatic wife & mother of 3, returning to Ottawa in 1969. In 1973 Hilda & her 3 children moved to St. Catharines where she worked for Scotiabank until her retirement in 1999. Hilda raised her children in St. Catharines and moved to Port Colborne in 2009 after a near fatal heart attack. Hilda spent the remainder of her life in Port Colborne.
Hilda was always the life of the party and enjoyed life to its fullest. She made all those that knew her feel loved. She was passionate about gardening, quilting and being involved in St. Paul Street United Church (now Silver Spire) in St. Catharines until her stroke in 2017.
Hilda was blessed with her caring and generous companions Susan M, Jessica G and Louise M who enriched her days at Northland Pointe and enjoyed her visits with Mary Lou W, a cherished friend and fellow quilter.
