Hilda Jane Mucha, affectionately known as Jean to her friends and family, left this world peacefully on February 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on January 27, 1940, in the rugged and beautiful Newfoundland, Jean carried the strength and warmth of her birthplace throughout her life.
She passed away in Barrie, surrounded by the love of her family, from natural causes.
Jean was the cherished daughter of Eva Maude Mercer and John Charles Dawe. She grew up alongside her siblings, the late Florence Cecelia Dawe and Edna Mary Dawe, her brother Ronald John Dawe, and sister Effie Marina Dawe. She was a devoted mother to her late sons, Stan and Kaz Mucha.
Jean’s life was a testament to love, as she was a devoted and loving widow to her late husband, Brian McLaren, who predeceased her.
Jean’s legacy is carried on through her adoring family. Her warmth, kindness, and thoughtful nature will be deeply missed by her grandson, Paul Mucha; granddaughter, Karalee Mucha; her bonus granddaughter, Sabrina Daluz; and her precious great-grandchildren, Ciara Mucha and Anthony Mucha.
Jean’s spirit, guidance, and tender love will continue to live in their hearts and actions. Those who knew Jean were touched by her loving nature. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel special and cared for, often going out of her way to help others. Her kindness extended beyond her family, touching the lives of many in her community where she was known for her thoughtful gestures and compassionate heart.

Jean’s memory will be held dear, not only by her immediate family but by all who had the good fortune to know her. In honoring Jean’s life, we reflect on the joy she brought into our lives and the gentle impact she made on the world. Her story is one of unwavering love, and while she will be profoundly missed, the memories she created will forever be a guiding light for her family and friends.
